Mexico City has the second highest number of population and is the highest contributor to the country’s total GDP. 70 million people in Mexico, in other words 63% of the population own a smart device with the mobile device industry thriving; $52 billion by the end of 2020, 4% of Mexico’s GDP.
The current plan of establishing a modern connectivity system consists of identifying current connectivity infrastructure, demand for connectivity within the city, designing a Mexico City Connectivity Network, newly designing the Mexico City Broadcasting System, and analysing government structure to identify its needs. The ultimate goal is to streamlining daily lives and business procedures while incorporating intelligence tools to gather data.
But Mexico City also has its challenges as it faces human focus on technology, government legislations, and citizen participation. Despite the efforts that have been put in, a more concentrated effort needs to take place in resolving inequality which has been prolonging in the country.
